Inverter

Sequences BBa_I750006_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This part inverts the activating output of OmpR so that transcription of a desired coding sequence can be triggered in the response to reduced EnvZ activity. The endogenous protein OmpR is phosphorylated by EnvZ. Phosphorylated OmpR then binds its response element (BBa_R0084) activating transcription. By placing the cI inverter system (BBa_Q04510) behind this promotor transcription of a desired product can be triggered by reduced EnvZ activity. This part is intended to invert the activating output of the red light receptor system BBa_M30109 in the absense of light to a repression of transcription. As a result transcription should be activated in the presence of red light.
