Sequences BBa_K156000_sequence (Version 1)

Description

This codes for the protein PhaA (acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase, GeneID:4249783), which converts acetyl-CoA to acetoacetyl-CoA. This is the first step in the production of the bioplastic Polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB).

Notes

Once the sequence was obtained from the literature, we simply codon optimized it for E coli to maximize production.

Source

This comes from the organism Ralstonia eutropha, which naturally produces PHB. The sequence has been codon optimized for use in E coli.
