Description

"Deinococcus radiodurans" DNA-binding proteins from starved cells (DpsMP1) is a DNA binding complex used to sequester DNA to protect it from radical oxygen species formed. This BioBrick was first characterized by the Stanford-Brown 2012 iGEM team (BBa_K847002). Here we have codon-optimized the sequence for expression in E. coli and made it compatible for GoldenGate MoClo as a CD-type part.

Deinococcus radiodurans is an atmospheric bacterial species that is known to endure high levels of ionizing-radiation that would be fatal to most other prokaryotic life. Stanford-Brown 2012 demonstrated that this protein may be a factor in D. radioduran's viability in intense conditions.

Notes

During codon optimization any Phytobrick and BioBrick relevant restriction sites were removed from the sequence.
