    Description

    E. coli Dps proteins are stationary phase nucleoid proteins that sequesters iron and protects DNA from damage. E. coli Dps proteins also protect DNA from oxidative damage by binding DNA, chelating ferrous ions (Fe2+), and reducing H2O2 to H2O. D. radiodurans encodes two Dps homologs, Dps1 and Dps2.
