Description

L-arabinose induced Starch Binding-B12 Binding Protein is a functional construct which contains the BtuF gene that encodes for a B12 binding protein and a starch binding domain encoded by the gene, CBM 21. The construct is under the control of an L-arabinose promoter (BBa_K206000) and a terminator (BBa_K206000). The BtuF domain is from the gene, BtuCDF, involved in vitamin B12 transfer into E. coli???s periplasmic region. The CBM 21 domain is part of the amylolytic enzyme family utilized by organisms involved in carbohydrate degradation. When expressed in concert, this construct bridges vitamin B12 to a starch substrate. The genes encoding for the B12 binding and starch binding domains come from the parts (BBa_K931001) and (BBa_K931000), respectively.
