Description

This is a single open reading frame which contains multiple genes that codes for necessary proteins in the sysnthesis of omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids. Ecosapentaenoic acid is the PUFA that is synthesized using this organism. The proteins coded within the gene are for dioxygenases related to 2-nitropropane dioxygenase activity. This gene is to be used in sequence with pfaA, pfaB, and pfaC. By cloning these genes into the same organism, it should be able to produce omega-3 fatty acids.

Notes

Mutations were made to an earlier entry of the same gene to exclude 2 Pst1 sites (747,798).
